Lotr fanfiction - In the Course of Time

Comment: I made up the parts that were not in the movies and the time after them; oh, and I didn't kill Háma, I needed him to live. I thank Meri for her permission to use an idea of hers that I can't explain here without telling you too much. This is my first Lotr fanfic, so please be gentle with me. Just to help, there is a key to the Elvish words at the end of the story (Part 7).
Summary: Take it Haldir did neither die nor get seriously injured in the Battle of Helm's Deep and joined the Men of Rohan with his Elven archers for the battle for Gondor. In Éomer, he finds a leader equally strong headed as he is himself.
Okay, so my webspace shut down and I don't have new webspace yet, so I had to improvise. Lj doesn't do really long posts (such as the 58.600 words of this story XD), so I had to split it in Lj-compatible parts. These are NOT parts according to content, the story is not meant to be read in parts, I created them only due to the word limit of Lj. In this post you'll find the links to all seven parts, just to make it easier for you to find them (I arranged it so that when you're on the entry of a part, clicking "next entry" on top of th page will bring you to the following part). Oh, and the story is at my beta at the moment, so this is still the unbeta'ed version (the beta might still take a while, so I hope you can live with this one for now ^_^). Well, I'm really glad you liked the story. There are so few people who read it - or commented to let me know - that I'm so happy you actually did. It's good to know that the atmosphere I wanted to create seemed to have come across ^_^ And I hope you'll join the little group of Haldir/Éomer fans - we are too few, and this pairing is just hot together *grins*

For my story to be mentioned in the same sentence with Morgana's "A Mortal Love" and Tirinwe's "Bond of Honor" is a huge compliment for me! I always considered them as "the big ones" of the pairing and those two stories triggert my passion for the Eomer/Haldir pairing as well. I even printed them off so I can read them without my computer - I think I've read them so many times now that I know them by heart, but I still love them XD

I'm still looking for new webspace and I currently don't have the possibility to upload the file anywhere (it's quite a long fic, as you may have seen in the wordcount). The only thing I can offer is that I send you a htm or PDF doc, whatever you prefer. You can either give me your email addy here or send me a mail to nanukdain@gmx.net and I'll reply with the story as PDF or htm (then only I will see your email-addy, if you prefer that).
Oh, and I'm having the story beta'ed at the moment (which will still take some time), so I hope you're okay with the unbeta'ed file that would have been behind that link (originally). Once it's beta'ed, I will post in several archives and Lj communities, but as I said, that might still take a while... Date: 2010-07-02 01:07 pm (UTC)I really love they way you've written about Eomer and Haldir's feelings, their bond and their life together. All the charaters' development was amazings and I'm very, very grateful for the Legolas and Gimpli friendship bits - they made me smile so much! I also have to say your fanfics are the first ones where I actually liked Eowyn. She'd always been neutral to me, I never really cared about her and she was mostly written in the fics I've read before, but your work made me like her, I think ^^ Also, Faramir/Eowyn is beautiful <3 And I enjoyed the friendship between Aragorn, Legolas, Gimpli and Eomer... I just can't find the right words to describe how much I enjoyed both stories! You did a wonderful job on both of them.
So I'm bringing two gifts, because I just had to show my appreciation somehow, and I've had this idea when I started to read In a Lifetime...

SQUEEEEEEEEE! Oh my gosh, you had me crying with joy, there! The banners are SO beautiful, they so incredibly perfectly catch the atmosphere of the story they belong to! You are simply amazing, you know that! I've never had somebody make such a beautiful gift for me! I'm still somewhat stunned, so excuse my incoherent sentences... And they're mine? Really? Because I plan to put them in the posts with the fanfics, I think they're so perfect that I just want to show them off. is that ok with you? I'm quite enthusiastic right now, so expect to find them with the headers soon XD
You have no idea how much it means to me that you like the stories so much. I was really obsessed when I wrote them (I took me only a month to write ItCoT - the same month I had 5 exams XD). I'm a sucker for character development, so I'm really glad you liked that - I know both stories are very plot-heavy and have not as much jucy scenes as most people would want to have. But I think you preferred it this way, hm? ^^
Oh, and I'm proud I could make you like Éowyn! I love her (why can't I find a girlfriend like her? *heavy sigh*) and I think she's a great chara with much potential - her love for Rohan and her sense of duty made her the perfect "victim" for my I-want-a-child-for-Eomer-and-Haldir plotline. And I wanted to have some strong side characters (that's also the reason I included the others) to make it realistic, somethim that could have happened (if I owned Lotr, I certainly would have happened XD). Ahhhh, you make me so happy with your comments and those awesome banners and I'm all fluffy and happy now (despite the unbearable heat - I've been dying the whole day -_- ). Thank you so much, hon, you're the best!

PS: I've finished both Mummy fics, some 26.600 words in total. I send them to my beta today, so I might be able to post sometime next week. And now, an under-the-table offer just and exclusively for you: I can send you the unbeta'd PDFs if you don't want to wait another week (uni will take over next week, so I'm not sure when I will be able to post). "Unbeta'd" means its mistake count is comparable to In the Course of Time (which is also still unbeta'd...) And I've made another manip that goes with the sequel, but I will obviously first make a post for it when the stories are out. It's already in my scratchbook, though, and if you want to, you can have a look. Maybe it'll make you curious? Oh, and the design (you will know what I mean if you have a look, otherwise I don't want to spoil you) is my own XD

Date: 2010-07-03 06:23 am (UTC)Really, those stories deserve their banners <3 It's been long time since I've read any GOOD LotR stories, so I had to commemorate it ;)
I always look for character development in the stories, so I wasn't complaining, believe me :3 But the joicy scenes were very nice, too ;3 And no, they weren't plot-heave at all, I think. Maybe a little at first at the beginning of the first story, but later it just got better and better! I've read everything at once, because I'd not survive a break from reading without knowing what happens next XD
Well, I've never had any special feelings for Éowyn. She was just there and that's it. She had my respect for being very strong female character (we definitely need more of those), fighting for Rohan and being kickass, but she never really got to me in "I like her" way. But she's not the only one XD I could list more characters who are also like that for me.
While watching and reading LotR I was wishing for one thing - more of Galadriel. She always will be my favourite female character from LotR, no matter what, and also one of my favourite fantasy female characters at all XD So I'm glad about her appearance in the fanfic ;) It made me happy ^^
YAY FOR THE MUMMY FANFIC! I'd love to have PDFs <333333 (And yes, the manip made me VERY curious XDDD)
