The Sinking of the Laconia Slash Manip

Title: Comfort
Fandom: The Sinking of the Laconia
Pairing: Junior Third Officer Thomas Mortimer/ Commander Werner Hartenstein
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Comment: Oh my, I'm so in love with this pairing! I finally got my DVDs shipped today, so I can take high quality screenshots and make better manips - yay! ^_^ I should get back to working on my paper for uni. I really should. Really, really, really... but fandom is so much more fun! XD

Another gift for [livejournal.com profile] clonesgirl, because I know she'll appreciate the love ^_^

Summary: Hartenstein and Mortimer enjoy a moment of comfort in each other's arms.

The captain comforting Mortimer... *faints* ...and it's not with the awful heat here! OMG! This is so downright gorgeous it's making me cry. I haven't the foggiest notion how you did it but WOW this is amazing!!!

A {{{BIG HUG}}} to you from the other Hartenstein/Mortimer fan. Thank you, thank you from the bottom of my slashy heart. :)

Hehehe, I had an inkling that you might like this one ^^ How did I guess..? XD *gets out her fan* Maybe that helps? At least with the weather-induced heat, I don't know if It'll help with the other kind of heat XD

I'm really happy about your response to this one. It took quite a lot of tweaking for it being a generally simple scene, and I wanted it to give off the right vibe. Seems I managed, and that's a good feeling. But I didn't intend to make you cry, hon! Here's a tissue *holds is out* And let me hug you to make it better ^_^

How I did this? Hmmm, tons of screencaps, a quite decent knowledge of Photoshop, a lot of patience, years of practise and a good imagination (understand this as 'dirty/naughty mind that sees slash everywhere and wants to realise it in a picture' XD). I've been manipping since 2009, and compared to my first attempts this is high art XD If you ever feel like it, check out my Masterlist (http://manor-archives.livejournal.com/354.html) and then you'll get an idea what I'm talking about (hint: the Lotr ones were the first ones, and wow, when I look at them today, I think they're quite bad... But I vowed to never return and change a manip once posted, because it would keep me from seeing a development. And it's a bit like cheating. And it would be a never-ending task XD)

Ohhh, did the other Hartenstein/Mortimer fan get pulled back in the fandom? Send a hug back from me ^^ It seems I might be able to interest a few people in the fandom too. I'm working on it. Spread the Hartenstein/Mortimer love. Maybe I should post the manips to rare_slash too, it might get the Laconia fandom a bit of interest?

PS: I really want to make you curious now: I've finished the next manip. This one's juicy. Prepare for some steamy-hot-sexy times XD

To answer your question, the other Hartenstein/Mortimer fan disappeared when she ceased to beta for me ages ago. I swear I didn't overwork her! There was also [livejournal.com profile] yorkshirewench who made a bunch of TSOTL icons. I just checked her journal but everything seems to be gone. Same at Dreamwidth. I tried PMing her a couple of times but no response. Don't know what's happened to her. She had lots of icons from different fandoms on her journal.

Can't hurt to post a link to your manips to [livejournal.com profile] rareslash. You never know. After all, you found my fic there. Somebody else is bound to fall in love with your manips and hopefully their curiosity will be aroused! ;)

I had a look at your archives and they're wonderful. Fabulous manips! :)

Hmmm, pity that the few active fans disappeared... But that happens a lot in small fandoms, especially because there's not that much activity. I've seen it happen time and again (I#m in wa too many small fandoms... -_-V). We just have to make the fandom mroe attractive by providing even more amazing fanworks, don't we? ^_^ I shall make that rare_slash post, then. Whatever helps.

Oh, thanks a lot, my dear! Manipping is my form of creative outlet when I really really want to actually see something and not just imagine it ^^ And sharing it is part of the fun.

I've always said it's all about the hands. Love where you've placed them!

And that little smile? Yes!

[identity profile] nanuk-dain.livejournal.com 2016-02-15 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
And you're absolutely right, it really ia all about the hands (disctinctly remember the two of us agreeing on that on several occasions ^_^). I'm glad you like what I tried to express with how and where I put the hands in this manip. It's always the serach for the perfect hand pic for the specific situation (which might explain why I have so many pictures of hands in my collection XD).

Oh, that smile it perfect, isn't it? In knew I had to use the pic when I found it. Too good to pass ^^

So, out of curiosity, have you seen 'The Sinking of the Laconia'? If so, did you like it? It's such a rare fandom that it's basically nonexistent...

[identity profile] tinnean.livejournal.com 2016-02-15 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You did amazing work!

I haven't seen this, but I'll put it on my list of to be watched. :-)

[identity profile] nanuk-dain.livejournal.com 2016-02-17 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks a lot ^^ Whenever you manage to watch it, I'd love to know what you think of it. It's such a little known movie (basically two movies that make one) that I'm trying to get it a wee bit more attention. Because hey, it's very very slashable XD
