I bring you that rather unpleasant matter of the damn website Ebooks-Tree that HAS STOLEN HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF FICS from AO3 in the past day or two. You've probably heard about it, it's a very popular - and angry - topic on tumblr and other fic-havens.
I personally found 21 of my fics or art stolen and posted on that website, and they're demanding money for it! My fics and my art are FREE, they're my creations, mine to give, my contributuon to all kinds of fandoms and they're made of love and hard work, and NOBODY HAS THE RIGHT TO DEMAND MONEY FOR THEM - especially since I'm not doing that, so some stealing website sure as hell doesn't have the right! I've already filed a DMCA complaint, I'm not going to let that go until they take down my works.
PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE to see if your work or that of fellow authors and artists has been stolen and let them know! SPREAD THE WORD about this and file a DMCA complaint to the website telling them to take down your work if they've stolen it too! We cannot allow stuff like this to happen!
AO3 is working on the issue (read more about what to do if you're concerned here), show them your support and don't let that cursed thieving website ruin our beloved archive! We, the fanfic writers and readers, are a huge community, spread out all over the world, and we're bonded by our love for fandoms and our creation and appreciation of fanworks, and now it's time to stick together and kick that company and its website into the Pit!
