Heya everybody!
So this is basically a post for all those of you who wonder where I disappear to every time I go on my work trips (and why it happens that I'm completely without internet access for several weeks). I thought it might be a fun thing to show you where I worked the past three weeks (and you'll probably understand why I had no internet XD). So this was my workplace:

Now, I'm not doing a 'normal' job, no office hours and sitting around for eight hours a day. I work in building archaeology (which probably nobody has ever heard of), that means that I measure and draw plans of historical buildings, do research and write reports about their history etc. In this case, I had to record the 18th century wooden roof construction of a baroque church for the carpenter who'd later do an analyses of the damage to the wood. I took pictures and made some videos to let you share my fun encounter with dead insects, cobwebs and the high old ladders that I had to climb ^_^
So, here's my workplace and the stairs that led to the roof truss where I spent the last three weeks. Steep stairs, and a real pain in the butt when you have to carry all kinds of equipment up there while it's 34°C outside...
And since my battery died on me while filming, here the continuation:
Now, Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the dead insects! I couldn't believe how many of them had decided to die on the same timber - the one next to it was clear of flies, so it must have been something about the wood (which was different for both timbers). A real mass grave... XD

There were other weird things up there like this... something below. I first thought it was some kind of mortar shell (everybody else did, too) and then I approached it and knocked on it and was relieved to find out that whatever it was meant to be, at least it was made of wood. Still, nobody could figure out what it was, or what it was doing in a church...

Now you can check out the freaky condition of the belltower with the large holes in the planks and more steep stairs and my personal fridge:
And something nice to finish: A wee concert of the bells (and me commenting XD).
I hope this was fun for you! I usually never document what I do this detailed, because it's quite normal for me (although every building is different and I have tons of weird and funny anecdotes about each one of them). I figure my job isn't something many people are familiar with and therefore I thought it might be a fun excursion into another world for you guys. So, what do you do? I'd love to hear what you think and what weird/funny/cool stuff you've come across in your jobs! My last working trip, for example, resulted in several book from various dates between 1889 and 1941 and an old metal candle lantern from around 1900 that I restored to its former glory in few days' work. Yeah, I'm a sucker for old stuff... (know, I'm doing the perfect job, then XD).
